Good printer and scanner
I have had this printer-scanner for more than 2 years, and in that time have switched it from a PC to a MAC with no glitches.
Document printing is great, as is scanning. Color photo printing is just OK.

scanner doesn't work
I was satisfied with this until the MP Navigator EX stopped working. I explored the Canon site looking for a solution and could not find any, altho I tried several. I uninstalled all Canon products from my computer and reinstalled the printer-- it still doesn't work. The machine is 2 years old and the programs should still be functional.
It is very noisy, takes a long time to get started, and the print quality is average.

Great multifunction preinter, expensive ink
Fantastic machine, easy for anyone to use, high quality, and great software. Only draw back is expensive ink, but now costco refils ink!

Slow, noisy piece of junk
When it FINALLY prints something, the actual printing is fast. GETTING it to print takes forever. It whirs and clicks and whirs and clicks and thinks and whirs and clicks some more. This is unbelievably annoying. What happened to pushing a button, a slight pause to check for paper, then actually PRINTING THE DOCUMENT?!!
Now today the scanner suddenly doesn't work. It's an endless cycle of thinking, asking for the document, asking you to press the color or b/w button, then asking for the document again.
Fixing will likely cost more than the printer, so instead I will take it out to the street and bash it to bits with a hammer.
How can Canon make such good cameras and then turn out THIS piece of junk?

Based on accelerated testing by Canon in dark storage under controlled temperature, humidity and gas conditions, simulating storage in an album with plastic sleeves. Canon cannot guarantee the longevity of prints; results may vary depending on printed image, drying time, display/storage conditions, and environmental factors. See www.usa.canon.com/chromalife100plus for additional details.
Photo print speeds are based on the standard mode driver setting using photo test pattern(s) and select Canon Photo Paper. Print speed is measured as soon as first page begins to feed into printer and will vary depending on system configuration, interface, software, document complexity, print mode, types of paper used and page coverage. See www.usa.canon.com/printspeed for additional information.
ISO/IEC 24734, 24735 define the default print and copy speed measurement methods. Print speeds are the averages of ESAT in a Category Test for the default simplex mode, ISO/IEC 24734. Copy speed is the average of FCOT, ISO/IEC 24735 Annex D. ADF copy speed is the average of ESAT in a General Performance Test for the default simplex mode, ISO/IEC 24735. See www.usa.canon.com/ipm for additional information.
Supported paper types for borderless printing are as follows: Photo Paper Pro Platinum, Photo Paper Pro II, Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, Photo Paper Plus Semi-gloss, Photo Paper Glossy and Matte Photo Paper.
